Dr Susan Sharland – Chief Executive TRL

 

Sue Sharland is Chief Executive of TRL Limited, a position she has held since 2001. She is President of the Transport Research Foundation Fellowship. Sue is a Trustee and Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and chairs their Membership and Skills Strategy Board.

She was previously a senior manager within AEA Technology plc, where she led a number of areas including consultancy, risk management and engineering software in a wide range of industries including energy, aviation and oil and gas. Sue started her career as a mathematical modeller, working in a number of fields including waste management and corrosion of metals. She has a first degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University and PhD in Materials Science from Imperial College, London University.
