George Batten – President of ADEPT the Association of (Local Authority) Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport

George Batten is President of ADEPT, the Association of (Local Authority) Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport. (ADEPT was formerly known as the County Surveyors’ Society).

George is a Chartered Civil Engineer with a local authority career spanning Avon, Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire County Councils.

In recent years George has managed multi-disciplinary technical departments, embracing Highways, Transport, Planning, Waste Management, Economic Development, Property, Emergency Planning and Trading Standards. Recently, as Wiltshire became a Unitary Council, Leisure Services were added to the list.

George is currently a non executive Director of Wiltshire Council and took up the Presidency of ADEPT in June 2010.
